He wants us to kiss, but we aren't married yet, isnt that wrong?
Thank you so much for reaching out with this question. I really appreciate your honesty, and even more than that, I appreciate your heart. The fact that you're asking this tells me your desire is to honor God in your relationship, and that's a beautiful place to begin.
You’re not alone in wondering about this. Lots of couples face similar questions prior to marriage, and it’s an important topic to consider carefully. The Bible doesn't specifically say that a kiss before marriage is fornication. In Scripture, fornication refers to sexual immorality, not simply a kiss. So I wouldn't want to place a burden on your conscience that Scripture itself doesn't place. At the same time, I think your question points to something even deeper than whether a particular action is technically "allowed." It sounds like what you're really asking is, "How can we honor God with our relationship?" I love that question, because it shifts the focus from trying to find the line to wanting to please God.
Physical affection has a way of drawing two people closer emotionally, not just physically. For some couples, a kiss may remain just that. For others, it can make it much harder to maintain the other physical affection boundaries they've decided to keep. That's why wisdom is so important. Instead of asking, "How far can we go?" it can be more helpful to ask, "What will help us grow closer to Christ and protect the purity of our relationship?"
If you don't feel at peace about kissing before marriage, it's okay to say that. Your convictions matter, and they deserve to be respected. A healthy relationship creates space for honest conversations, and a man who truly loves you should never pressure you to go beyond what you believe is right before God.
Take time to pray together, seek God's wisdom, and establish boundaries that both of you can joyfully honor. The goal isn't simply to avoid sin—it's to build a relationship founded on trust, mutual respect, self-control, and a shared desire to glorify God.
I'm really encouraged that you're asking these questions now instead of waiting until after you've crossed a boundary you're unsure about. Keep seeking wisdom through prayer. God promises to give wisdom to those who ask Him, and I truly believe He delights in guiding hearts that sincerely want to honor Him.
Praying for you as you continue to grow in your faith and in your relationship.
